The PG Department of Environmental Science St John’s College, Anchal, was recognized as an approved Research Centre of the University of Kerala in 2023 (No. 195/2023/UOK Dated: 06.01.2023).

Research Details of Department of Environmental Sciences

The supervising teachers of the department have been working on various environmental aspects in extending guidance to M.Sc. students and Ph.D. scholars. The research profile of the department is very ambitious and has a special focus on local and global environmental problems and solutions.

Major Research Areas:

Metagenomics and Bioremediation, Microbiological studies, Biogeochemistry, Phytoremediation of industrial effluents, Soil pollution, Water pollution and Air pollution aspects, Environmental Toxicology, Remote Sensing & GIS, Environmental Impact Assessment, Hydro geochemistry, Ecosystem Service Valuation, Ecology, Wetland studies, Sustainable development, Waste management, Biodiversity conservation etc.
