National Service Scheme (NSS) of our college organized a programme as part of International Day of Older Persons on 01 October 2024 in an Open Air Classroom at 1.00 p.m. On the occasion, NSS Volunteers will take the pledge to safeguard the rights of older persons.
.St John's College commemorate NSS Foundation Day "Not Me But You" on 24 September 2024 at 11.30 a.m. with various programmes like NSS Flag Hoisting, Keynote Address and inauguration of the NSS Room.
.Under the auspices of Department of Environmental Science, NSS and Green Kerala Mission, Govt of Kerala, 'Pachathuruth' was inaugurated in the college as part of a Green Campus initiative on 27 August 2024 in the college.

.Today, we celebrated our 78th Independence Day with a variety of programs collaboratively organized by the NSS and NCC units of our college.
The day began with a freedom rally at 8:00 a.m., followed by a flag-hoisting ceremony performed by our principal, Prof. Dr. Nisha Thomas. Principal, NSS officer Mr. Thomas Mohan, Dr. Anu Varghese (HOD, Department of Commerce), and Rev. Sr. Rabaeka Rachael V.G., delivered inspiring freedom messages to the students.
The principal also released a dove into the sky, symbolizing peace and freedom. A documentary presentation based on the freedom struggle, edited by Aromal and Gowtham, was showcased, highlighting the sacrifices and efforts of our national heroes.
The event also featured various cultural programs performed by the cadets, showcasing their talents and patriotism.

.As part of World Breastfeeding Week, Dr. D Venmani Dakshinamurthi delivered a talk to our students on August 5, 2024. The event was organized by the Women’s Cell and NSS Unit with the aim to raise awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and to promote a supportive environment for new mothers. 84 students attended the talk. Dr D Venmani Dakshinamurthi delivered an engaging and informative session, covering topics such as:
• Benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and babies
• Common challenges faced by new mothers and solutions
• Role of family and community in supporting breastfeeding
The talk was followed by a Q&A session, where students actively participated and clarified their doubts. Dr. Dakshinamurthy's expertise and passion for the subject made the session highly enriching and inspiring.
National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of our college in association with Anti-Narcotic cell and Pink Police, Punalur organized an Anti Drug Awareness Class on 24 July 2024 in the college Auditorium from 2.00 to 3.00 p.m. Ms Deepika, Vanitha Cell Counsellor is the resource person for the programme.
.National Service Scheme (NSS) and Women's Cell of our college in association with Kudumbasree District Mission organized a One day Workshop on "Gender Awareness and Sensitivity" in the college on 12 July 2024 from 1.30 to 3.30 p.m. Ms.Bushra S, Service Provider, Snehitha Gender Help Desk is the resource person for the programme.
.As part of International Yoga Day 2024, NSS and NCC unit of our college organized a programme on 21 June 2024 in the College Auditorium. Mr. Chandradharan Nair, the Chief Guest of the programme gave a lecture on the importance of the day followed by a training session.
.On June 8, 2024, the National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of our college conducted a community outreach activity by distributing school bags and study materials to the children at Karikone, a village near Anchal. This initiative was part of the NSS unit’s ongoing efforts to support the education of children among the underprivileged communities. The primary objective of this distribution event was to provide essential educational resources to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. By equipping these young learners with school bags and necessary study materials, the NSS unit aimed to foster an environment conducive to learning and personal development.

National Service Scheme (NSS) of our college in collaboration with PG Department of Environmental Science organized a talk on 'Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience' by Dr G Madhusoodanan Pillai (Former Professor and Research Guide, Department of Environmental Science, University of Kerala) as part of World Environment Day celebration on 05 June 2024 in the College Auditorium.
.The NCC all over the country aims at instilling students a spirit of discipline and a willingness to serve the country. Students can get themselves admitted to the NCC in the beginning of each academic year. The cadets are given regular training in the college and at camps. Examinations are held and merit certificates awarded. Lt Dr Arun P S serves as the Officer of the NCC unit.
.In order to promote innovative ideas among the students and boost their creative potential, the Young Innovators Programme has been launched in the college.
Ample facilities are provided for the lady students of the college for developing their soft skills, for engaging leisure time fruitfully, etc in the Women's Development Centre.
For promoting and coordinating the cultural and literary activities of the teaching staff, a Staff Club of Teachers functions in the College:
The Science Club aims to inculcate and promote a scientific temper among the students and encourage them to explore the world of science. With this objective, the Club conducts a series of science based programmes which include exhibitions, workshops, symposia, quiz competitions, demonstration of experiments, interactive sessions on new/ path breaking scientific discoveries etc.
To create a life style attuned to the vibes of the Earth, to love and preserve the Nature and to protect the ecosystem, three clubs have been formed in the college: Nature Club, Haritha Club and Biodiversity Club. The members conduct a series of programmes with a view to love, preserve and protect the nature.
The Music Club has been formed in order to discern and develop the musical talents, to give them practice in vocal and instrumental music and to carryout musical programmes of the campus. The Club functions under:

Besides the regular physical education, a Health Club is set up in the college for training the whole students through demonstrations, practices etc to lead a healthy life. A Multi Gymnasium of the college with all necessary equipment helps the inmates to progress in physical fitness. The Head of the Department of Physical Education is the Convener of the club.
