Student Clubs

In order to acknowledge, boost up and to provide platforms for those students with innovative idea or creative potential, the Innovative and Start Up Club has been set up in the college. Dr Arun P S (Convener), Dr Benzon K B, Mr Jerry C Jacson, Dr Josin C Tharian and Dr Tony Philip are in charge of the club.

The Club aims at fostering the talents of the students in performing arts such as music, dance, mime and drama by giving them training, to carry out music concerts and other performancces as well as to participate in competitions. Besides the weekly meeting, students gather separately as per the schedule for instrumental and vocal training. Ms Sonu L Johnson (Convener), Dr Brilliant Rajan, Dr Prasad P N, Ms Rashmi S Pillai and Mr Vinod L are in charge of the club.

The Media/ Theatre Club functions to equip the students with the new breakthroughs in the media and the theatre. By organising seminars, film festivals and career guidance classes, the students are sensitized to the emerging trends in this field. The Club also provides an arena to exhibit the histrionic skills of the students and socially relevant issues are addressed through street plays. Mr Arun M George (Convener), Dr Alexander T, Dr Mary M Abraham, Dr Sajan Thomas, Ms Sonu L Johnson and Mr Vinod L are in charge of the club.

Language is an index of culture. The college provides ample opportunities for students through stage programmes, kalaries, workshops and other training programmes as well as leadership training for making oneself an excellent orator and leader. The club also promotes the literary and creative talents of students. Ms Lalitha Joseph (Convener), Dr Dhanya Johnson, Ms Padma Chandran, Ms Rashmi S Pillai, Ms Simi Saju and Ms Sonu L Johnson are in charge of the club.

The Quiz Club functions under the leadership of Ms Padma Chandran (Convener), Dr Alexander T, Dr Deepa Mary Joseph, Ms Lalitha Joseph, Ms Rashmi S Pillai, Ms Simi Saju and Dr Sooraj Kumar. The club conducts quiz contests and imparts training for the same. It also carries out inter-school, inter-collegiate and inter university Quiz competitions.

To maintain physical, mental and spiritual fitness and to follow the footsteps of our Yogees and Rishees, Yoga exercise is being given to the students by well-trained Yoga masters. This helps the students to keep themselves away from stress and strain in life and to contemplate and concentrate.

To improve the Numerical skill of the students, the Department of Mathematics offers classes in numerical skill development. The classes will be held on all fourth Saturdays from August 2011.

With a view to generate awareness among the students and to check the evil effects of HIV/ AIDS and to equip themselves and the community as a whole to prevent it, Red Ribbon Club is instituted in the College.

In addition to First aid facilities, the college has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with nearby hospitals to ensure emergency medical assistance to our staff and students. The college plans to bring the whole campus under medical insurance scheme. Ms Simi Saju (Convener), Dr Anoosh Varghese, Dr Deepa Mary Joseph, Dr Limna Raj B P are the faculty in charge.

The ED club has been set up in association with EDC, Kerala, to organize awareness programmes and entrepreneurship clinics, to introduce talented youths to industrial research organizations and to familiarize them with the latest developments in the field. Ms Bainy George (Convener) and Rev Fr Shoji Varghese (Advisor), Dr Anu Varghese, Dr Arun P S and Dr Thomas Mathew are the members of the club.

The Cell organizes workshops and training sessions for the students to realize their career aspirations, to prepare students for various competitive examinations and to provide information and technical assistance for placements in various fields. Ms Rashmi S Pillai (Convener), Ms Anu Aravind, Dr Arun P S, Ms Bainy George, Dr Dilip D S, Dr Mini Mol S and Dr Smitha Mary Mathew are in charge of the cell.

Being fully conscious of the fact that good leaders are also good orators, the Elocution Club has been formed with a view to moulding able leaders from the college. The programme is conducted regularly to help the wards to develop their oratory as well as leadership skills. Ms Rashmi S Pillai is the Convener of the programme and Dr Dhanya Johnson, Ms Lalitha Joseph and Ms Simi Saju are its members.

The college organizes crash courses in language skill, targeting those hailing from the rural schools. Every year the programme is announced after admissions. The programme aims to enhance the confidence and improve the language competence of students. It consist of workshops, training, exercises and drill. It is conducted on Saturdays and public holidays. Ms Lalitha Joseph is the Convener who is assisted by Ms Anu Aravind, Mr Arun M George, Dr Dhanya Johnson, Rev Fr Renji Maniparampil, Ms Sonu L Johnson and Dr Preena Varghese M S.

With a view to improve the students confidence level and encourage them to widen the horizon of their knowledge and develop their communicative skill, Debate Club has been set up in the college. Dr Dhanya Johnson (Convener), Ms Anu Varghese, Dr Arun P S, Ms Lalitha Joseph and Ms Simi Saju guide the students.

To create a life style attuned to the vibes of the Earth, to love and preserve the Nature and to protect the ecosystem, three clubs have been formed in the college: Bhoomithra Sena, Eco-Cadets and Nature Club. The members conduct a series of programmes with a view to love, preserve and protect the nature. Dr Deepa Mary Joseph (Convener), Dr Anoosh Varghese, Dr Brilliant Rajan, Dr Kaladevi V, Dr Kavitha C H, Dr Limna Raj B P, Dr Mini Mol S, Ms Rashmi S Pillai and Mr Shijo V Varghese are in charge.

The intention behind the institution of the Club is to develop a very close acquaintance with and appreciation for the multiplicity of the Mother Nature. The members of the Club engage in maintaining the natural diversity of the campus. The guiding forces behind the club are Dr Anila George (Convener), Dr Brilliant Rajan, Dr Jensy Roshan F, Dr Kaladevi V, Dr Kavitha C H and Dr Nansimole A.

The Music Club has been formed in order to discern and develop the musical talents, to give them practice in vocal and instrumental music and to carryout musical programmes of the campus. The Club functions under Dr Deepa Mary Joseph (Convener), Dr Benzon K B, Dr Jiji S G, Dr Limna Raj B P, Dr Mini Mol S, Dr Niecy Elsa Mathews, Ms Rashmi S Pillai, Mr Shijo V Varghese and Mr Sunoj J Daniel.

The intention behind the institution of the Cell is to work against the use of alcohol and drugs. The Cell organises seminars, campaigns, rallies, etc against such social evils in the society. The guiding forces behind the Cell are Ms Lalitha Joseph (Convener), Ms Anu Varghese, Dr Dhanya Johnson, Dr Dilip D S, Dr Josin C Tharian, Dr Limna Raj B P, Ms Padma Chandran, Mr Shirin Regi and Dr Sunitha Grace Zacharia.

The Spoken Tutorial Project is the initiative of the “Talk to a Teacher” project of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology, launched by MHRD, Govt. of India. The objective is to pass on the knowledge of technology and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) through the website in our college who lack opportunities and/or access to learn any software.

In order to make the students aware of human rights, to take actions for ensuring human rights and to fight against its violations, the Human Rights Forum has been established in our college. Dr Ronie Thomas (Convener), Dr Deepa Mary Joseph, Ms Gouri Nair S, Dr Sajan Thomas and Mr Thomas Mohan are its members.

Besides the regular physical education, a Health Club is set up in the college for training the whole students through demonstrations, practices, etc. to lead a healthy life. A Multi Gymnasium of the college with all necessary equipments helps the inmates to progress in physical fitness. The Head of the Physical Education Department, Dr George V Thomas is the Coordinator of the programmes. Fr Jinoy Mathew (Bursar), Dr Alexander T, Dr Smitha Mary Mathew, Dr Sooraj Kumar and Dr Tony Philip are its Executive Committee members.

The Forum aims at inculcating social values in the students and sensitizing them to their responsibility of caring others. The activities are conducted under the leadership of Mr Vinod L (Convener), Ms Padma Chandran, Rev Fr Shoji Varghese and Ms Simi Saju.

The Cell works for the completion of the mission of the State, ‘Each one teach one’ to attain cent percent literacy and for promoting adult education. Dr Nisha Thomas coordinates the programme and Dr Arun P S, Ms Padma Chandran, Dr Ronie Thomas and Dr Sibi C Babu are the associate members.

Under the leadership of Mr Shijo V Varghese (Convener), Ms Anu Varghese, Dr Alexander T, Dr Praveen S G, Dr Sunitha Grace Zacharia and Mr Thomas Mohan, the Forum propogates its importance and creates awareness on the need for donating organs and blood, aiming at achieving the target of complete organ donated campus.

In association with the Kerala State Higher Education Council, the College conducts Additional Skill Acquisition Programme for selected students for enhancing their soft skills and professional skills. Mr Arun M George (Convener), Ms Anu Varghese, Dr Dhanya Johnson, Ms Padma Chandran and Mr Vinod L are in charge of the programme.

In order to enhance the academic performance of the above average students and provide firsthand experience with eminent personalities, the Higher Education Council of Kerala has introduced the programme. Its activities in the college are coordinated by Dr Ronie Thomas.

With the aim of supporting the average or below average students in order to raise their standard by stimulating their potentials through various activities, Scholar Support Programme (SSP) has been introduced in the College with the support of Kerala State Higher Education Council. Dr Deepa Mary Joseph, Dr Ronie Thomas, Dr Sajan Thomas, Ms Simi Saju and Dr Smitha Mary Mathew are the members.
